Description

Position: Supply Chain Director 

Shift: Dayshift- Exempt Position

The Supply Chain Director is both a strategic and hands-on role that will hold overall responsibility for company procurement and logistic requirements in line with best practices and legal frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for the functions of procurement management including all strategic purchasing/inventory activities; from executing purchase orders through to resourcing of purchasing requirements necessary for the operation of the company.
  • Effective leadership, mentorship, oversight, and management over 2 departments- Warehouse and Procurement with regards to performance management, skills development, attendance, communication and recognition.
  • Create and manage monthly forecasting, sales trends, and marketing initiatives to support the coordination of Supply Chain Activities and validate forecasted demands
  • Source additional alternatives to all primary materials for risk mitigation
  • Source, manage, and oversee all freight carriers, quarterly contracts, and general oversight.
  • Follow all required process, policies, procedures within all departments as well as following group guidelines and policies. 
  • Develops and manages all KPI’s related to supply chain performance
  • Establish organizational guidelines or policies and conduct all buying activity ethically in accordance with the Greiner Code of Conduct. Monitor and adhere to applicable laws and regulations
  • Directs and coordinates the day-to-day and long-term strategic activities of both teams to ensure timely planning and procurement of goods and services to meet business demand
  • Develops and implements planning and procurement systems, including policies and procedures that drive a rigorous supplier selection process, supplier development, performance and establishes timely supplier evaluation and feedback to ensure continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.
  • Produce monthly status reports that communicate to management project progress against plans/budgets.
  • Close coordination and process improvement with production, scheduling, and all auxiliary departments to ensure no disruption to production and delivery to customers.
  • Assess departmental performance, identifying weaknesses and implementing operational changes to ensure the efficient flow of goods
  • Evaluate the internal performance for all aspects within procurement, logistics, and warehouse to drive continuous improvement of supply system operations with effective leadership.
  • Analyze net demand variations and capacity constraints by technology, including quality constraints affecting the service level. Discuss the outcomes with key stakeholders, define recovery plans, and facilitate decision processes. Maintain appropriate vendor relationships to ensure adequate raw material supplies.
  • Manage and assess existing supply chain partners and vendors for products currently in production. Make improvements or changes as necessary.
  • Management of transactional information in SAP. Create training, guidance and direction to both departments for SAP knowledge sharing, best practices, and assist in resolving issues 
  • Management of 24/7 warehouse coverage. Management of FIFO inventory within warehouse, maximizing space, and ensuring proper coverage of personnel. Creating process improvements within ERP/SAP, material movements, and floor layout improvement.
  • Monthly management of slow moving, obsolete inventory and management of DIO (days inventory outstanding)
  • Management/analyzation of segments as part of vendor managed inventory
  • Negotiate best value prices, lead times and terms, from approved suppliers for the company.
  • Analyze price proposals, RFQ process, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices. 
  • Analyze market conditions or trends. Monitor inventories of products or materials to estimate demand for products or services, working to optimized stock levels.
  • Actively contribute to the global procurement activities of GPI group procurement.
  • Responsible for Food Safety within scope of work, including adherence to site Hygiene Code of Practice and SQF / FDA regulatory requirements, and reporting of food safety concerns / improvement suggestions

Requirements

Key Requirements

  • Minimum previous 4 years of procurement management experience required in a manufacturing environment. Preference given to plastic or packaging manufacturing environments. 
  • Preferred previous experience of 3 year management experience of logistics and warehouse.
  • Preference given to prior procurement and material knowledge for resin, especially polypropylene. 
  • Preferred previous 3 years’ management experience in a high paced manufacturing environment. 
  • Bachelor's Degree; preferably in Business, Logistics Management, Manufacturing Operations, Industrial Engineering or related field
  • APICS Certification preferred
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills; experience leading a team
  • 4-years’ experience with an ERP system; SAP experience is preferred but not necessary
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes, procedures, and standard operating procedures. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong leadership abilities to mentor, lead, develop, and motivate others.
  • Proven track record to implement and improve processes and create a change management environment.
  • Ability to react quickly to changing requirements and new process developments. 
  • Requires hand washing multiple times throughout a shift, including exposure to cleaning agents that may be harsh to the skin. (PPE Provided)
